6th May 2008 - Committee Meeting Highlights

The recent distribution of the annual Newsletter etc by email rather than by post seems to have been well received. A number of members had not renewed their membership by 1st May and the club is in the process of contacting individuals to check that they received the mailing and have all the relevant information.
The new access code to gain entry to the court will be circulated by email around the 1st June, to all members who have paid their fees for the forthcoming season.
The court is back in action and looking good. However this is a brand new surface, therefore please note the following comments received from Academy Sports: “Please be VERY careful on the courts in this very warm weather…… This warm weather is the first the courts will have had, so care must be taken to avoid surface damage.” If you notice the tarmac softening or the surface sticky on a hot day please do not play. The courts will continue to cure so it will be less of an issue as time goes by. You never know this lovely weather might not last!
We are discussing the possibility of extending the Practice Wall and providing netting over the hedge to the side of the wall, to help contain tennis balls.
The new block of tennis coaching will start back from Monday 12th May.
We are also planning to run a Summer Camp during the July/August school holidays - further details to follow.
Volunteer club members are needed to "man" the Sports and Social Club bar on Tuesday nights (preferably) during June and July. Anyone who would be happy to help out, please contact Lesley Jones via our Secretary (see Members page for email link).
Why not come down to the Sports and Social Club and make use of the facilities? During June and July, on a Tuesday night in particular, there will be at least one tennis club member to chat with!
We will shortly be adding a new page to our website: Calendar of events including our own club social events and tournaments but also tennis events generally and local events of general interest,. If anyone would like an event to be listed, please contact Jackie Reed via our Secretary (see Members page for email link)

CLUB AFTERNOON EVERY SATURDAY (STARTING Dec 1st)

We are starting a regular Club afternoon on Saturdays, beginning tomorrow Saturday, 1^st December, running from 2.00pm until 4.00pm on both courts for adults and all competent players.

Tea and cake/biscuits will be provided and each week a different person will be running this event.
