This page is dedicated to information for our Junior Members at Alfold Tennis Club. It includes match and tournament information and a message from Adam Reed, the Junior Rep on the club committee.

Fun Junior Tennis Tournament Rudgwick Tennis Club 12th July 2008 10.30am

Rudgwick Tennis Club have kindly invited all our junior tennis members (aged 8 - 16) to a fun day of tennis - playing a ‘round robin’ tennis tournament. They will provide lunch and drinks. They have three courts and could provide mini tennis for the younger players. This is a great opportunity for everyone to have match practice without stress! If you are interested, please could you contact Heather Rainer by emailing heather.strachan@btinternet.com or phoning 01483-274714

A message from the Club Coach regarding Junior Matchplay Sessions

Just a quick reminder that the popular Junior Matchplay Sessions will be re-starting again from Wednesday 14th May 2008 and will run every Wednesday (except for half-term) until the coaching sessions have finished.

Due to the confusion over payment last term, the club has decided that it will revert back to a pay and play scenario. This means that you can no longer pay for all of the sessions in one lump sum. So if your child is interested in attending, then all you need to do is bring them along at 17:30, collecting at 19:00, along with £2 and the club coach will be there to organise them into matches. So please, please remember to bring the £2 with you for each Wednesday session.

All those Juniors who attended last term improved far more quickly than those that didn't, so if you are serious about improving your tennis and can rally from the back of the court then please come along.

To all junior members

On Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July, the Godalming Youth & District Singles Tennis Tournament 2008 is taking place. Anyone can enter up to the age of 18. It is held at Charterhouse School, on Hurtmore Rd in Godalming. The tournament is designed for Juniors of all abilities, whether experienced tennis player or just a beginner. You do not need to be a member of the Godalming Tennis club. Entry to the tournament is £4.00.

Also, at the school, on Sunday the 6th July, there is a free tennis-coaching day. There is a morning session and an afternoon session, both of which you can attend.

At 6.30 p.m on Sunday 13th, trophies and medals will be given out and a family doubles tournament will be played where the children can play with one of their parents against other family teams. This is then followed by a barbeque.

Many Junior Members from Alfold Tennis club have been to these events in previous years and have very much enjoyed them. The dates are always on the website www.godalmingyouthtennis.org and so are the 2007 results, previous years' results and lots more. Have a look.

A message from Adam Reed

My name is Adam and I am a junior member at Alfold Tennis Club and Junior Representative on the committee.

In the Alfold club tournament, last year, I won the doubles tournament (with Oliver Tarrant), and came second in the singles tournament. I then went along for the presentation of the trophies and stayed on for the committee meeting, and agreed to join the committee as Junior Representative. We get together for a meeting a few times a year and we talk about things that need to be done towards improving the tennis club. We are still looking for another junior member to join the committee. Also parents of other junior members are needed to become a part of the Junior Development Committee, which organises matches for us, against other local tennis clubs.

If any Junior Members have any suggestions for the committee, please contact me by email or chat to me if you see me around.
